Personal Yoga classes are based on the knowledge that movement and meditation are essential to health and happiness. In Yoga the intention is to integrate fully into the home of our soul, our body.
In these busy times, we need to be more accurate and responsible about our self care. We need a space specifically for us and a yoga mat holds that potential. It’s a space to get stuff out, gain new perspectives, take responsibility for our emotions, get stronger, gain clarity, balance, heal, clean our bodies and cultivate a radical amount of self love.
Erin has been a practicing Yoga teacher since 2002 with emphasis on alignment, stability, breath and flow. Her favorite styles to draw from are Anusara, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga and Shadow Yoga. There is a strong emphasis on foundational poses in the beginning and if it feels right, there is the invitation to explore and have fun with other poses, such as inversions and balancing.
Sometimes we need to sweat, sometimes we need to be playful and sometimes we need to be focussed. Some days we need a full power, confidence-building physical practice and some days we need to restore and recharge and open up in the right places. Some practices are about digging deeper into who we are, or finding gratitude, or shifting our mood, or emptying our cup so we can be kinder, centered and more empowered to handle our challenges with grace.
Personal Yoga is all about you taking charge of your well being and getting the right amount of exercise, relaxation and clarity, adding value to your life. A personal yoga class can be designed for 1 to 3 people to ensure the maximum amount of personal attention and to reach your lifestyle and yoga goals.
During the first session, Erin goes through a list of questions with her clients for an accurate assessment of needs, goals, history, life experience, physical and mental well being, etc. Each yoga session following has a shorter assessment and yoga programs are often changing as a result of positive transformation in clients.
Erin designs a specific foundation for the first class, a prescription of Asanas or Yoga poses, Pilates core work, and Pranayama/ breathwork that respects the current state of her clients while planting seeds for transformation and increased strength and flexibility. At the end of each practice is the well known Savasana, where you will receive 10 minutes of bodywork for optimal relaxation. Then we refine and expand the sequence, add more challenge, or more restorative, or more bodywork depending on how you feel. It is an organic process and the result is happier, healthier humans!
